Meet Dr. Greg Bonnen
Dr. Greg Bonnen is a neurosurgeon, small business founder, and proven conservative serving Texas House District 24. As Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Dr. Greg Bonnen is leading the fight to protect Texas values, secure our border, cut taxes, strengthen schools, defend parental rights, and stand up to foreign threats.
Dr. Greg Bonnen has spent his life serving others. A lifelong resident of the Texas Gulf Coast, he built a successful career in medicine before answering the call to public service.
After graduating from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Bonnen completed his residency in neurosurgery and served as an assistant professor before founding the Texas Brain and Spine Center. In 2003, he co-founded Houston Physicians’ Hospital, which now employs nearly 200 full-time staff members. He continues to serve as the hospital’s president and has treated more than 13,000 patients across Southeast Texas.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Bonnen has demonstrated a deep commitment to helping others—serving as a medical missionary in Haiti, Cuba, and the Philippines, and leading faith-based outreach efforts through the Medical Strategic Network.
He was elected to the Texas House in 2013 and currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Under his leadership, Texas has delivered over $18 billion in property tax relief, fully funded Operation Lone Star to secure the border, and passed a balanced, conservative budget focused on the priorities that matter most.

Dr. Bonnen has also been a strong voice for protecting life, defending our Second Amendment rights, ensuring informed patriotism in our classrooms, and cracking down on violent crime.
He and his wife Kim live in Friendswood, where they raised their two daughters and attend Friendswood Community Church
