Austin, TX -State Representative Greg Bonnen has nominated Kyle Beaman of Friendswood High School to receive the Texas Armed Service Scholarship Program (TASSP). Kyle, a freshman at Texas A&M University, is enrolled in the Corps of Cadets and is studying to become a mechanical engineer. He will be commissioned into the United State Navy upon graduation, and plans to become a Surface Warfare Office or Submariner. He is the son of James and Martha Beaman.
“The TASSP allows members of the State Legislature to nominate worthy students to receive a scholarship to serve their country.” said Representative Bonnen, “Kyle is a great student with a noble goal. We appreciate Kyle and his fellow students who are willing to serve their country so honorably.”
The Texas Armed Service Scholarship is awarded to an eligible student appointed by his or her State Representative or Senator, the Lieutenant Governor, or Governor. The TASSP has been created to assist promising students from across the state who are committed to education and service. It encourages young leaders to participate in the Texas Guard, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, or to become commissioned officers in the United States Armed Services. Students must commit to at least 4 years of ROTC service while in college.
