Primary Voting Information

The 2014 Primary Elections have begun! Early voting for the 2014 Primary Election began yesterday, Tuesday, February 18 and runs through Friday, February 28, 2014.

The Primary Election date is Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

I wanted to take a moment to share the new Voter ID requirements for voters, as well as provide information on how to locate your polling location. It is my hope that you find this information helpful as you exercise your right to vote, a privilege many sacrifice their lives to secure.

VOTER ID: WHAT YOU NEED TO VOTE

The new Voter ID law is in effect and voters will be required to show one of the following approved forms of photo identification:

  • ŸTexas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • ŸTexas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS (Free of Charge)
  • ŸTexas personal identification card issued by DPS
  • ŸTexas concealed handgun license issued by DPS
  • ŸUnited States military certificate with photo
  • ŸUnited States citizenship certificate with photo
  • ŸUnited States passport

With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than 60 days at the time of voting.

To accommodate citizens, DPS is offering Saturday hours at select driver license offices to issue Election Identification Certificates (EIC) only.

DPS will be deploying mobile stations to various locations to ensure Texans have access to EICs.

Texans can obtain an EIC at:

WHERE DO I EARLY VOTE?

For those of you unsure where to early vote, VoteEarlyTexas.com, has been created to help boost Primary Election turnout by allowing voters to easily find their nearest early voting location or print out a pre-filled absentee ballot application.
